El cinematógrafo en España (1896–1906)
This new volume offers a structured tour of the cinematograph in Spain from its origins to 1906. The first chapter of the volume offers a study of the new invention in its first decade, looking at it from several angles (in terms of its technology, distribution, manufacture, public reception, and associated terminology). The second chapter is devoted to those locations (classified by province, then city) in which the cinematograph was distributed in Spain. The third chapter provides a who’s-who of the key figures that played a significant role in the landscape of the cinematograph (including cinematographers, technicians, actors, exhibitors, producers, and film lecturers). Finally, a catalog of films produced in Spain between 1896 and 1906 (surviving or not) is provided. The Cinematograph in Spain (1896–1906) constitutes the first complete study of this topic in Spanish film history.
