Discovery: 102-Year-Old Hungarian Film Discovered at EYE

A Munkászubbony (The Work Jacket, István Bródy, Hungary, 1915)

 

DOMITOR congratulates the Dutch researchers at the Amsterdam-based EYE Film Institute who have discovered one of the oldest extant Hungarian films: A Munkászubbony (The Work Jacket), shown on January 12th, 1915. Lost for decades, The Work Jacket directed by István Bródy with the actor Gyula Hegedűsfirst is one of the longest Hungarian silent films of the era. The EYE will send it to the Hungarian National Film Archives’ collection, where it will be restored and digitalized.
