ORPHELINS MUSICAUX

Un programme en deux parties de films “muets” anglais avec leur musique originale re-synchronisée,
dirigé par Tony Fletcher avec John Sweeney au piano.

I. Films sonores d’avant 1930

Dans ce programme présenté par Tony Fletcher, des films britanniques datant d’avant l’adoption généralisée du son-sur-film sont exceptionnellement présentés avec des enregistrements synchronisés sur disques/cylindres, ou avec leur chanson originale rejouée en live par John Sweeney au piano. La séance, introduite par Byony Dixon, a été filmée par David Williams au cinéma Barbican lors du 12e Festival britannique de cinéma muet (British Silent Film Festival) en juin 2009, publié en ligne (sur la chaîne youtube “Celluloid Tapestry”) le 25 novembre 2018. Le programme comprend:

  • Teddy Brown and His Xylophone – ‘I Want To Be Alone with Mary Brown’ (1928) (British Phototone disc)
  • Jack Hulbert and Cecily Courtneidge in ‘Hang It!’ (1929) (Silent Film with synchronised music track)
  • Lifeboat Appeal (1930) (Silent Film with synchronised music track)

 

II. Dans le son et le muet – opéra, danse et musique classique populaire

Présenté par Tony Fletcher et John Sweeney, ce programme propose de la musique classique populaire, de l’opéra et de la danse des année 1920 dans les expérimentations variées de leur enregistrement sonore synchronisés. Séance filmée par David Williams au Centre Barbican le 10 avril 2011, lors du 14e British Silent Film Festival, publié online le 13 mars 2019. Elle comprend:
